Running Memory?

I love the way my body has running memory. One day I will become better educated all around on running and I'll know just how true this idea really is, but for now my body makes me believe it. I think that means I've taught it well :) This past Sunday I conquered the 8 miler again. I was a little nervous, especially since I so brightly decided to jump from 5 to 8.... I take some crazy chances and most of the time they pan out... I'm thinking it's due to my body being an awesome rememberer of "I Can Do This!" It felt really great. My partner for the day and I actually pushed it to 8 and a half, we were so pumped up! My left hip is still bugging me a little bit, but with constant TLC it's getting better.Something my body has no memory of.... training for a sub 2:00 half. I'll be looking at training plans pretty soon. Kind of nervous/excited about that adventure! I think it's about time I did something besides just cross the finish line.
Side note: It's freeeeeeeeeeezing out when I run these days! I mean -FREEEEEEEEEEEEZING!! Like I think my legs have warmed up and then when I peel my running pants off and feel my skin it's icy to the touch.... wow.
I'm supposed to run 10 miles this weekend. I don't think it's going to be happening due to the upcoming visit from my awesome friend... a gal needs a little break sometimes :)

Happy Running Everyone!

Refresh, Refresh, Refresh

That's the name of the game today. I bet I'll probably refresh my class search page 20 times while I'm writing this! So I decided, rather late, that I was ready to go back to school. Nothing too crazy, just two classes, night school..... two classes that will be pretty hard, but whatever. So today is the day-ish that people who haven't paid get dropped and I get there classes! Yay! Only problem is that, unlike Hawaii, this school says that a computer does it on some type of schedule for the next three days!!! Are you kidding me?? So I've been semi-permanetely glued to this computer for the past 4 hours already... only 68 more to go! *fake smile* {{REFRESH, REFRESH}}

Training is going well, I was able to find a group of girls in my running group that also need to do night runs so that's been a fun addition. It sucks running at night by yourself and I have to admit it's a little scary sometimes. Last night I was winding up my 5 miles and found myself incredibly motivated by my charity adventure. I kept thinking that even though I've only raised $125 so far, in one week two people in a third world country far away will get a wheelchair because of my decision. How cool. I'm running, something they'll never be able to do, but it's providing them the means to simply get anywhere. I'm happy with my decision, I feel peaceful inside. This weekend I'm going to try to pound out 8.... it's a quicker jump than I'd normally make, but I'm pretty sure I can do it. I'll just have to stay paced, pay attention to my body and focus. *Cotton & Steel* (From Chi Running!)

Speaking of focusing, during this lazy day of refeshing I've managed to scarf down a nice plate of nachos and a creamsicle. Nice.... one more reason I hate this "refreshing day".... Oh and my class has come open at least 4 times but at the absolute wrong time :(

Back to it..... {{REFRESH, REFRESH}}

First run of 2010!!

Yippppeee did it feel good! Kev is all healed up so he went with me. I am absolutely 100% SO proud of him! He said it's the longest he's ever run and he did a really great job. K, Enough about him... it's also the longest I've run in a year. It felt really good, needless to say, I am so motivated and inspired to go further and further. By the end of the run I still had energy and believe I had at least 1 more mile in me, which is good because we really paced ourselves. Ko Olina is also a really nice area to run in, the ocean sounds amazing at night and the atmosphere is really relaxing and chill. I'm stoked because I got this new widget over there to the left... -------> to keep up with all my miles on here. It's a really cool website and I'm enjoying it so far. Another cool way to share my bests and totals with you all as I move along this journey. If anyone knows any other websites clue me in. I'm in absorbtion mode for new running info. I'm reading The Non Runners Marathon Guide For Women right now and I love it. Although I'm a relatively experienced runner and have been for awhile, I don't know a lot about serious distance training and I was sort of starting from scratch after having Scarlett. Anywho, tonight I realized that I am "Chipper Jen"... you gotta read the book. Basically Chipper Jen is the peppy, always happy, running, pain lover... yep that's me. I'm all like "I love this, this feels SO great" and Kev's like...."you're nuts"! It's cute! Back to Kev for a moment; it is so great doing this with him. I remember training before and wishing I could share how stoked I was with him and he could understand it, now he does and not only does he understand it, but I'm sharing the experience with him. I think this is going to be one of the funnest things we've ever done together (there goes my Chipper Jen-ness again!). Alright, don't really know what else to say on top of that... I've decided NOT to list my goals yet. I'm going to go through Jan and evaluate my goals as I go. Then, at the end of January, I'm going to lay them all out. I like this plan.

H-O-T

Good grief when will I learn?! It's 2:05 and I just got done with a 35 minute run... I knew I needed to go ahead and do it since we have pictures tonight so like a good little runner I did, but man it was HOT! I did take Scarlett with me which was nice. Much different running with the B.O.B. I like it though. I miss Kev, he's hurt his knee a little so he's been out since late last week. Hopefully he'll be back this week... Ready to be through these next couple of weeks, re-conditioning is so boring sometimes.

Running Rocks!!

     I overachieved today, Yay! Just got done with 3.10 miler in 36 min plus cool-down. Did Ab-Ripper X before I went. I feel soooo great! After about a week and a half I'm starting to remember that I know how to run, or at least my body is, lol! My knees are feeling less like I need a costco size WD-40 and my core is starting to feel more like a big strong oak tree and less like a charlie brown christmas tree, which is great because once I can get that back the running will be MUCHO easier. Putting my eating habits in check will probably take a little longer because it's such a habit & lifestyle change... but I'll get it. I'm pretty hard on myself as some of you know & have witnessed. I don't exaclty eat fried foods all the time and munch on chips. But I really want to get back to clean eating (which is basically just eating good foods the way they come... and I don't mean in a box, lol!) I'm re-adopting the idea that foods that are bad for me make me wanna hurl... Hey! It's mind over matter right?!? But I'm competely motivated and that means I can tackle anything!

I believe in myself! I believe in myself!

     That's what it sounded like in my head at the end of my 35 minute run today... Oh! I have so far to go! Day 2 of official training for the Big-Island halfy and it's going ummmm well. Kev and I did a little over 3 together on Sunday and it was really nice. Different running with Kev (not much girl-talk, haha), but nice nonetheless. I think it will become really great time for us. Today I did the same, but I decided it would be a good idea to do it around 4PM... moron! So by the end all I was saying was "This was stupid, you can do it. This was stupid, you can do it!" I have a long road to travel to be back in as great of shape as I was before Scarlett came but I don't mind the road as long as it's filled with crazy fun curves and roller coaster hills, lol!

I do believe in myself. I can do this!
